About the Greek Alphabet

The Greek alphabet is one of the oldest writing systems still in use today, and many of its letters might be familliar to you from their use in science and mathematics. Greek orthography also uses a number of diacritics not included on this page.

Apart from the standard alphabet, there are the forms ϲ lunate sigma, ϐ curled beta, ϵ lunate epsilon, ϰ variant kappa, ϱ curled rho and ϒ curled upsilon and the ligatures ϛ stigma and Ϗ kai. There are also the disused letters, Ϙ/ϟ koppa, ϝ/ͷ wau and ϡ sampi.
